More than 100 artists will showcase their work at the upcoming Lynchburg Art Festival

The Lynchburg Art Club will host its 51st annual Lynchburg Art Festival on Saturday, September 21st on the grounds of EC Glass High School.

More than 100 artists from across the Commonwealth will exhibit and sell their art from 10am-4pm, spanning a wide range of media including watercolour, oil, pastel, encaustic, sculpture, drawing, acrylic, mixed media and photography.

Participating artists compete for $7,000 in prizes sponsored by the community and local businesses. The 2024 judge is Janly Jaggard; Jaggard was born in Suffolk, England and received a degree in art and design from West of England College in Bristol. She currently lives in the Shenandoah Valley where she teaches drawing, painting and vitreous enamel at Beverley Street Studio School. Jaggard’s work has been extensively collected and exhibited worldwide.

The festival also includes an exhibition highlighting the talents of area high school students and offering cash prizes. Brooke Marcy, art professor and director of the Daura Museum at the University of Lynchburg, will judge the student exhibition.

A portion of the festival’s proceeds go to the Shirley D. Hobbs Scholarship Fund, which each year supports a local high school senior pursuing a degree in the arts.

The rain date for the art festival is Sunday, September 22nd, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
