Qatar Publishers & Distributors Forum launches second summer reading camp – Doha News

The Reading Through the Ages summer camp begins today (Sunday, August 18) and runs through Wednesday. The focus is on improving reading and writing skills while exploring the writing of history.

The Qatar Publishers and Distributors Forum, in collaboration with the Children’s Literature Center, is launching the second edition of its summer reading camp in Doha today (Sunday, August 18). The event will run until Wednesday, QNA reports in a press release.

This year’s camp, entitled “Reading Through the Ages,” offers a range of activities and professional competitions for children and young people.

The aim is to improve literacy skills, raise awareness of their importance and educate participants on the historical development of writing. The camp will also explore the different tools used in different periods of writing history.

Jassim Ahmed Al Buainain, Director of the Qatari Publishers and Distributors Forum, highlighted the camp’s role in providing children with new opportunities and broadening their perspectives on writing.

He pointed out that the camp is more than just a summer activity; the aim of the camp is to promote a strong reading culture and raise an educated generation in line with the vision of the Ministry.

Asmaa Al Kuwari, Director of the Center for Children’s Literature, praised the support of the Ministry of Culture and highlighted the positive feedback from parents. She reiterated the center’s commitment to enhancing the cultural experience for children.

As part of a similar initiative, the Qatar Publishers and Distributors Forum previously organized an event titled “Reading is the Foundation of Science.” The aim of this event was to promote a reading culture among students and highlight reading as a fundamental source of knowledge.

Qatar Publishers and Distributors Forum Director Riyad Ahmed Saleh stressed the importance of the activities for the intellectual and cultural development of students. He stated: “Promoting the culture of reading among our students is essential for the development of their cultural and intellectual personality,” and stressed the forum’s commitment to supporting the ministry’s vision of raising a well-educated generation, local media QNA reported.
