American boards a Delta Air Lines plane at Washington International Airport without a ticket; airline launches investigation

We’ve seen in movies how actors get on the wrong flight and go to a completely different destination. This has often made us wonder how they even get on a plane without the airline staff finding out! But it seems like sometimes there is an oversight on the part of the staff too! Earlier this month, a man without a ticket boarded a Delta Air Lines plane after allegedly following a family at Washington Dulles International Airport. The airline has now launched an investigation to find out more about this incident.

Earlier this month, a man boarded a Delta Air Lines flight without a ticket at Washington Dulles International Airport in the US. The airline’s staff only found out about it when a family of four called them and complained that the man had followed them and even boarded the plane after them. The flight attendant then asked for his boarding pass, but he was unable to produce it.

According to a report by India Today, Lauren Benton complained that the man followed her, her husband and their two young children into the terminal, even into a ladies’ restroom. She then noticed that he even followed them and boarded the same plane as her. The man even sat in her row. Lauren’s husband then confronted the man and complained to the flight attendant. The staff asked the man for his boarding pass, but he was unable to produce it.

He was then escorted off the plane. However, according to the Transportation Security Administration, the man had a valid ID and a boarding pass for a later flight. This could explain how he got through the checkpoints.

The airline launched an internal investigation and has been in contact with airport authorities to learn more about the incident. In a press release, the airline assured its passengers that “processes are in place for gate agents and flight crew to verify that the individuals on board the aircraft prior to departure are indeed customers booked on that particular flight.”

It is worth noting that no charges have been filed against the man who boarded the Delta Air Lines flight at Washington Dulles International Airport without a ticket. What do you think about this incident? Let us know in the comments.
