Statement on Mokulele Airlines flights from August 17 to 20

HONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) has been notified that Mokulele Airlines must ground a portion of its fleet from August 17-20, 2024, to conduct a routine maintenance check and resolve findings.

Mokulele Airlines operates from the following state airports: Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL), Kahului Airport (OGG), Kapalua Airport (LUP), Hāna Airport (HNM), Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport at Keāhole (KOA), Waimea-Kohala Airport (MUF), Molokaʻi Airport (MKK), Kalaupapa Airport (JHM) and Lānaʻi Airport (LNY).

Mokulele will operate limited flights between OGG, MKK, HNL and LNY and utilize other airlines to minimize disruption to its passengers. Due to these measures, the airline will operate at half capacity on Sunday, August 18, with a minimum of three flights of 24 seats to MKK and 12 seats from MKK per flight. On Monday, August 19, the airline will work to meet its normal load with additional flights.

Mokulele is no longer accepting reservations for this weekend and has provided its customers with the attached letter here. Additionally, the company is working with its customers to cover costs associated with the impact of this partial lockdown while it takes steps to restore normal operations. Restoration of normal operations is expected by Wednesday, August 21st.

HDOT supports Mokulele’s safety measures and advises affected travelers to contact the airline through their 24-hour customer service line at 808-495-4188 before traveling to the airport.
