During Saturday’s game between the Houston Texans and the New York Giants, star wide receiver Stefon Diggs made his season debut with his new team. And while comparing Diggs’ new quarterback CJ Stroud to his old quarterback Josh Allen, Texans commentator John Harris took a swipe at the latter.
Diggs recorded the first catch of his Texans career in the first quarter, catching a pass from Stroud that was perfectly placed in traffic.
Harris and Texans live commentator Kevin Kugler were very positive about Stroud’s throw immediately after the game.
“On third and two. Oh, what a strike. Perfect and Stefon Diggs announces his arrival to the Houston crowd,” Kugler said of the game.
Meanwhile, Harris chimed in and asked if Josh Allen could have made the same throw that Stroud made to Diggs.
“You know, Kevin, this Wednesday at practice you’ll see, just go to the DB and CJ will hit you,” Harris said. “I don’t know if Josh Allen would have done that, but CJ will put the ball right on the number.”
There it is, Stroud to Diggs. 🔥

That’s certainly a bold statement from Harris considering what Allen and Diggs accomplished together in Buffalo. During their four years together, both were perennial Pro Bowlers with a highlight tape that any quarterback-wide receiver duo would be proud of.
Still, it seems as if Harris wanted to highlight Stroud’s skills, which were clearly evident during his Rookie of the Year season last year.
Regardless, we’ll likely see the Allen versus Stroud debate throughout much of the 2024-25 NFL season when it comes to Stefon Diggs’ performance, especially if we see Diggs flourish on his new team.
