Frank Ski Show Nina Brown Kiss 104.1 WALR Atlanta 96.3 WHUR Washington DC There are changes coming at Howard University Adult R&B 96.3 WHUR Washington DC as Oceanic Tradewinds and Compass Media Networks’ “The Frank Ski Show with Nina Brown” and “The Original Quiet Storm” host John Monds have departed the station.

Both hosts had returned to WHUR in July 2020. Ski had an early afternoon job at WHUR between his two stints at WVEE Atlanta from 2013 to 2015. Before moving to Atlanta in 1998, Ski worked for a decade in Baltimore at “V103” WXYV and “92Q” WERQ, where he also had an influence on the then-strong Baltimore house music scene of the late 80s and early 90s. Until earlier this year, Ski had a dual role as host of the morning shows for “Kiss 104.1“WALR Atlanta and hosting the syndicated show for WHUR and stations across the country.

Gary Bernstein, CEO of Oceanic Tradewinds, told RadioInsight: “Frank’s contract with WHUR ended on Friday after four successful years and unfortunately we were unable to agree to a new contract. The program has consistently been the No. 1 music program for the 25-54 demographic in the Washington area, including last month (June). Sean Plater and Al Payne represent the best that radio has to offer. They are both world-class radio executives and incredible people. We couldn’t have asked for better partners.”

John Mond's Love and R&B Radio OneMonds also returned to WHUR in July 2020 to host “The Original Quiet Storm” weekdays from 7:30 p.m. to midnight, after hosting mornings at the station in the early 2000s. Monds has also worked at KRBV and KKBT Los Angeles, WILV and WVAZ Chicago, WUSL Philadelphia and WQHT New York in his career.
