Summary

  • Allison’s actions in
    The Umbrella Academy
The events of season three are skipped over into season four, and their betrayals have few consequences.

  • Despite the tensions with Viktor, Allison is easily forgiven in
    The Umbrella Academy
Season 4, with minimal accountability for their past actions.

The Umbrella Academy Season 4 brings the Hargreeves back together for one final adventure, but I am not convinced by how Allison’s story is handled. After The Umbrella Academy When season three ended, I was hoping that Allison would get some sort of redemption arc in the final part. She betrays her siblings to make a deal with Reginald, and she treats Luther and Viktor badly throughout season three. Although I understand where Allison’s anger comes from in The Umbrella Academy Season 3, I don’t think she should get away without an apology. Unfortunately, that’s basically the route the Netflix series is taking.

The Umbrella Academy Season 4 acknowledges the tension between Allison and her siblings, but failed to convince me of a reconciliation. By jumping back in time in the premiere, the series skips the Hargreeves’ adjustment to their new timeline – and any resentment toward Allison that might come with it. When they get back together, The Umbrella Academy hardly holds Allison responsible for her actions in season 3. While I expected the Hargreeves to work out their differences, I hoped Allison would be more open about her mistakes.

Allison will be really easy to forgive in season 4 of the Umbrella Academy

The Hargreeves barely confront her with her actions in Season 3

Despite the betrayal of her siblings in The Umbrella Academy Season 3, Allison will be forgiven quite easily once the latest mission comes to fruition. Klaus lives with her and Claire in season 4, suggesting that any problems between them are long forgotten. And both Allison and Claire are welcomed with open arms on Grace’s birthday, although Allison suspects that her siblings don’t want her there. The only person who can blame Allison for her actions in The Umbrella Academy Season 3 is Viktor telling his sister that they are no longer friends.

However, This conversation is the only episode of The Umbrella Academy Season 3 we get — and in the series finale, it is essentially undone. When the Hargreeves siblings meet at the end of The Umbrella Academy Season 4, Viktor and Allison share a brief but touching moment together. Allison tells Viktor that she is sorry he gave up his life in Canada for this, and Viktor admits that he has no regrets. This suggests that they have gotten over their anger at each other. But The Umbrella Academy In season 4, this is barely addressed, which weakens the impact.

Season 4 of The Umbrella Academy ignores what Allison did to Luther in season 3

She still owes Number One an apology

Emmy Raver-Lampman as the looking up Allison Hargreeves and Tom Hopper as the frowning Luther in The Umbrella Academy

Allison Hargreeves’ powers are always useful The Umbrella Academy, but in her worst scene in season 3, she uses it against Luther. She tries to attack Luther with her rumor-telling abilitiesan incident that completely changed my perspective on her. One would think that this would affect the way Luther treats Allison in The Umbrella Academy Season 4, but the final episodes simply ignore this moment. If Allison owes anyone an apology, it’s Luther – but they never do.

I assume that the tensions between Allison and Luther can be seen in their distance from each other, because The Umbrella Academy Season 4 also ignores the story of these two. With Luther mourning Sloane and Allison returning to her siblings, I expected them to have a serious conversation at some point. Unfortunately, their dynamic is another thing that gets lost in The Umbrella AcademyThe controversial final season. With only six episodes, there may not have been enough time to explore Allison and Luther’s relationship. Still, I wish the writers had tried.

The Umbrella Academy does not accept Allison’s deal with Reginald

The Netflix series never goes into the details

Allison is the only reason why the Hargreeves find themselves in another timeline in The Umbrella Academy Season 4, but the last six episodes never return to her deal with Reginald. Since the end of season three, we know that Allison and Reginald worked together to reset the timeline and prevent the apocalypse. However, viewers are never made privy to the details of their agreement. I assume Allison asked Claire to come back, but I have a feeling there must be more to her plans.

The Umbrella Academy could have explained Luther’s sudden resurrection through Allison and Reginald’s deal – and possibly even Sloane’s disappearance. Season 4 could have answered several questions with this approach, but instead Reginald and Allison’s agreement is added to the list of things that are no longer addressed. This is especially odd since the Hargreeves interact with Reginald all the time. The Umbrella Academylast season. But with so much compressed into six episodes, I have to conclude that Allison’s story is unconvincing because there isn’t enough time for it.
