Richards High School starts the new year with a new principal

Dr. MaLinda Majoch began her career over a decade ago in Community High School District 218.

Her venture began in August 2003 when she accepted a position as a social worker at Richards High School, 10601 Central Ave., Oak Lawn. She then went on to become Small Learning Community Facilitator at Richards in 2009, Assistant Principal at Richards in 2009, Assistant Principal at Richards in 2012, Assistant Principal at Shepard in 2014, Director of Grants and Community Engagement for Community High School District 218 (CHSD 218) in 2015, and Assistant Principal at Eisenhower in 2017.

As of July 1, Majoch is proud that her highest title to date is that of principal at Richards.

“I look forward to working with our great staff to provide our students with the best academic experience possible,” said Majoch of Evergreen Park.

A graduate of Illinois State University, Majoch earned her bachelor’s degree in social work before attending Loyola University Chicago where she earned a master’s degree in social work. She then attended Concordia University Chicago where she earned a master’s degree in educational management and ultimately completed her education with a doctorate from Concordia University Chicago in educational management.

Her strong background made her an excellent candidate for the principal position at Richards, and Majoch is excited to see where her efforts have taken her.

“Richards has a rich history and strong traditions. What I love most is the diversity that makes our school a second home for our students,” Majoch said.

She succeeds Dr. Mike Jacobson, who now serves as Executive Director of Student, Family and Community Engagement for District 218.

Majoch said she is excited to return to her old stomping ground, Oak Lawn High School, and to build on the strong foundation and history that make Richards so special.

“It’s been 10 years since I was at Richards, so I want to take the time to get to know the staff, students and families,” she said. “I also plan to go into the classrooms, participate in our students’ extracurriculars and support our faculty. I’m excited and grateful to be back at Richards. For me, this is a full-circle moment in my career. As everyone at Richards knows, ‘Once a Bulldog, always a Bulldog.'”
