Football and volleyball started this weekend, and here are the results from Friday:
Boys Football
John Glenn 10, Cambridge 0: Will Nicolozakes scored five goals and the Muskies led 7-0 at halftime in their opening win.
Oakley Zamensky scored two more goals and Ben Stamm, Kelton K. and Dane McGee also scored for John Glenn.
Watkins Memorial 5, Zanesville 2: Cam Van Kirk scored a goal and assisted on Garrett McMillion’s goal in a Licking County League loss.
Greyson Goines made 13 saves for Zanesville, which hosts New Philadelphia on Monday at 7 p.m.
Philo 2, Granville Christian 2: The Electrics earned a tie in their season opener as Trace Wilson and Gage Wickham scored goals for Philo.
Jordan Lawler made four saves for the Electrics.
West Muskingum 0, Johnstown 0: The Tornadoes and Johnnies opened the season with a goalless draw, with Michael Hobbs scoring the clean sheet and Silas Kuhn highlighting West M’s performance.
Marietta 3, Tri-Valley 0: The Tigers left the Scotties empty-handed in the season opener.
Girls’ soccer
West Muskingum 2, Johnstown 0: Jayden Thornton and Lyla Johnson each scored a goal and the Tornadoes opened the season with a win.
Debra Allen had an assist and Kyndall Fountain made seven stops in the shutout.
Ridgewood 1, River View 0: The Generals only had two shots on goal, but Kathryn Kelley scored one of them, picking up a loose ball and scoring from 27 yards.
Kiera Schrock was outstanding in goal for Ridgewood, saving ten shots.

West Muskingum Boys 158, Rosecrans 212: Medalist Reid Lemity shot a 38 and Hayden Lambert added a 39 as the Tornadoes won at the Jaycees.
Jack Touvell shot a 40 and Clayton Clewell a 41 for West M; Evan Bauer led the Bishops with a 45, while Cohen Todd shot 48, Noah Moore 59 and Jordan Joseph 60.
Ridgewood Girls 181, Edison 212: Medalist Brynn Harstine made two birdies in her 1-over par 37 as the Generals won at River Greens.
Jacey Hess added a 44, Josie Stanton a 46 and Zoe Martin a 54 for Ridgewood, while Callie McKeegan had a 48, Katie Phillips a 52 and Bella Evans and Gwen Stine had 56 for Edison.
