Starmer rejects book deal with publisher Harper Collins

Sir Keir Starmer’s register of interests shows that he no longer intends to write a book to be published by Harper Collins.

The Prime Minister’s love of football was also confirmed by the list, as he was given tickets to 12 matches last year, most of them involving Arsenal FC.

His registered interests also include four Taylor Swift hospitality tickets, Lord Waheed Ali clothing worth £16,200 and tickets to the Jingle Bell Ball.

The full list, released on Friday, shows that Sir Keir repaid an advance of £18,450 to publisher Harper Collins because he “stopped writing the book for which the advance was paid”.

In May 2022, it was announced that Sir Keir is writing a book about his vision for Britain.

At the time, publishing director Arabella Pike said: “In his book, Keir Starmer will return to his early life to trace the origins of his politics and the influences that shaped him as a leader.”

“It will make a powerful case for the crucial role of respect and integrity in political life as he sets out his vision for the future of Britain. We are delighted and excited to be publishing it.”

Elsewhere in his registered interests it can be found that in August last year Sir Keir was given accommodation for four people on the Gower Peninsula, costing £4,500.

Sir Keir also received four tickets to the National Theatre’s performance of Nye, which is about the end of the life of former Health Secretary Aneurin Bevan.
