Malaysia Airlines and AirAsia are among the airlines with the fewest lost baggage in the world

KUALA LUMPUR, July 2 – Malaysia Airlines and AirAsia were among the top 10 airlines in the world with the least amount of lost baggage, with Malaysia coming fifth on the list.

According to startup website LuggageLosers, Malaysia Airlines ranks fifth with a probability of 0.04 percent, or one piece of lost luggage per 2,763 passengers.

AirAsia ranked seventh out of 68 airlines with a 0.05 percent probability of losing an item per 1,867 passengers.

The website was created by digital entrepreneur Pieter Levels to collect live data on lost baggage cases from major airlines around the world.

Malaysia ranks fifth in terms of the least baggage losses, followed by Indonesia and Saudi Arabia. Japan takes first place.

The Japanese airline All Nippon Airways (ANA) took first place with a probability of 0.01 percent.

LuggageLosers uses social media data and matches it with actual lost baggage data to create a real-time estimate of the airlines most likely to lose luggage.

The website is part of the Airline List, a site created by Levels that provides users with information on the quality, safety and accident history of major airlines.

According to LuggageLosers data, Canadian airline WestJet was the airline with the most lost luggage, while Ireland is the country whose airlines most frequently misplaced luggage.
