United Way of Greater Rochester announces part of reduced list of 2025 grant recipients

Rochester, NY – The United Way of Greater Rochester and the Finger Lakes has released part of its reduced list of organizations that will receive critical funding starting next year.

United Way announced that 89 nonprofits in its six-county service area will receive a share of more than $6 million in multi-year program grants.

The announcement comes a week after United Way said it would “evolve” its Community Impact Fund, cutting the amount nearly in half and leaving several local nonprofits without nearly $5 million in funding.

Among the organizations affected are Foodlink, the region’s only food bank, and the Center for Youth. United Way blamed the ongoing impact of the pandemic and a decline in donations.

“United Way is a community-driven organization. We listen and respond to community needs,” said Jaime Saunders, president and CEO of United Way, in a statement. “The multi-year grants are one component of a robust support strategy for our nonprofit sector. We recognize that the needs of our neighbors are significant and immediate – they cannot wait for our strategy to fully develop. Therefore, we are committed not only to supporting the 2025 multi-year recipients, but also to supporting any transition of critical services that our current multi-year partners provide today.”
