Errol John McBride | Magazine review

Errol John McBride, 85, of Crawfordsville, passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, in Wellbrooke, Crawfordsville.

He was born on June 10, 1939, to John William and Lena Mae (Scherb) McBride at Clinton Hospital.

Errol’s father, John, died when Errol was three years old. He was raised by his grandparents, Fred and Nellie McBride, in Putnam County. He helped his grandparents on the farm. As a child, Errol participated in 4-H and showed Tamworth pigs at the Putnam County Fair. He supported 4-H throughout his life.

Errol graduated from Bainbrige High School in 1957 and attended college at Purdue University. He married Judy Kay Chavis on March 5, 1960 in Rockville. They met at the Parke County 4-H Fair. Errol worked as a grader at RR Donnelley for 22 years and retired in 1982. After retiring, he turned his part-time job as a farmer into his full-time career, raising hogs, corn and soybeans.

Errol was a member of Waynetown Christian Church. He proudly farmed his Farmall tractors and enjoyed driving his Ranger around his property. Errol attended vintage tractor shows and had a collection of replicas of antique toy tractors. He enjoyed watching college basketball, especially from Purdue University and IU, and bird watching.

Errol will be sadly missed by his wife Judy, his children William (Susan) McBride of Washington, DC and Carol (Jeff) Vice of Lafayette, his grandson Curtis Vice and his sister Carole McBride of Loveland, Colorado.

His parents had died before him.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Errol’s name may be made to Montgomery County 4-H Inc., 400 Parke Ave., Crawfordsville, IN 47933.

Viewing will be held on Tuesday, August 20th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Sanders Funeral Care Waynetown, 202 Bratton Road. Errol’s funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 21st at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Parke County.

Skyler Andrew Williams

October 25, 2002 – August 11, 2024

Skyler Andrew Williams, 21, of Granville, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2024, at OSF Saint Medical Center, Peoria, Illinois.

Viewing will be Saturday, August 17, from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Dysart-Cofoid Funeral Chapel, 208 S. McCoy St., Granville. A further viewing will be Sunday, August 18, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, August 18, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Granville Cemetery.

Skyler was born on October 25, 2002 in Rockford, Illinois to Christina (Yocum) Croissant and Gary “Frankie” Williams II.

After graduating from Putnam County High School in 2020, Skyler became a dedicated construction worker at Judd Construction and everyone’s personal handyman. He lived for cycling and drew a crowd everywhere he went, if not for his skills, then for his humor. The constantly busy man always pushed everyone around him to be better in every way, on and off the bike. He loved helping kids like his close cousin Ethan learn how to ride a bike properly. It was impossible to have a bad time with him.

He is survived by his grandmother Gail Yocum and his father David Yocum of Granville, his mother Christina (Rich) Croissant, his father Gary “Frankie” Williams II of Crawfordsville, his stepbrothers Zach, Noah and Hunter, his girlfriend Savanna Lasson and his brothers. He also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Jarrod Williams, his paternal great-grandparents, David and Phyllis Meagher, and his maternal great-grandparents, Robert and Rita Yocum.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to his family to Cofoid Funeral Home c/o Skyler Williams, 209 N. McCoy, Granville, IL 61326.

Pallbearers are Alex Bohne, Zack Bohne, Ben Cyr, Brayden Holmes, Miles McCook, Nathaniel Mrowicki, Nolyn Thompson and Hunter Ziano.
