Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa share first photos with baby Iman

Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa of Jordan enjoy the happiness of their new baby, their little daughter, Princess Iman.

On August 7, the heir to the Jordanian throne released the first photos of the family of three. Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa, both 30, became parents for the first time when their daughter was born on August 3 at the King Hussein Medical Center.

“Many thanks to the dedicated staff of the Royal Medical Services for the exceptional care provided to Rajwa and Iman over the last few days,” Crown Prince Hussein wrote on Instagram in English and Arabic.

The carousel opened with a photo of the royal couple standing and smiling together while Crown Prince Hussein carries Princess Iman’s baby carrier, who is fast asleep in it. The image appears to have been taken the same day they left the hospital, where Crown Prince Hussein’s professional moves as he strapped Princess Iman’s car seat into their vehicle and drove off resembled Prince William’s routine in 2013 when Prince George, now 11, was born.

The second photo shows Crown Prince Hussein proudly holding Princess Iman in his arms, snuggled up in a pink hat and a white and pink patterned blanket, while Princess Rajwa lovingly looks on.

Hussein and Rajwa tied the knot on June 1, 2023, in a royal wedding attended by the Prince and Princess of Wales. Ten months later, the Hashemite Royal Court announced that Princess Rajwa was pregnant, and the Jordanian royal family grew with the birth of Princess Iman on August 3.

The little princess is the first grandchild of King Abdullah and Queen Rania and may have been named in honor of another family member. Baby Iman was given the same nickname as her aunt, Crown Prince Hussein’s sister Princess Iman, who is 27 years old. The Arabic name means “faith” and “trust.”

Although a statement from the Royal Hashemite Court confirmed that newborn Iman received a royal title and the title “KKH” at birth, she does not automatically follow her father in the line of succession, as is customary in some other modern monarchies for the first child of the heir. The constitution of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan stipulates that the throne is inherited by the dynasty of King Abdullah Ibn Al-Hussein and is passed down through male heirs. Crown Prince Hussein is succeeded by his 19-year-old brother, Prince Hashem, while her sisters Princess Iman and Princess Salma, 23, are not in the line of succession.

The Royal Hashemite Court and Queen Rania celebrated the birth of baby Iman on social media, with the proud grandmother posting photos of her family visiting the hospital to meet the little princess.

“Iman, you have already captured my heart. Our family has never been happier!” the Queen of Jordan wrote on Instagram.

The montage shows Queen Rania, King Abdullah, Princess Iman, Princess Salma and Prince Hashem meeting the new baby for the first time, including a tender shot of Princess Iman holding her new niece.

The birth of the royal baby continued an informal tradition, as all four of Queen Rania and King Abdullah’s children were born at the King Hussein Medical Center.

Instead of gifts for the birth of their daughter, Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa asked well-wishers to donate to the Al-Aman Fund for the Future of Orphans.
