Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lorain County names Kenneth Belton as new board chair

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lorain County recently elected Kenneth Belton as its new board president, according to a press release.

Belton has been on the board of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lorain County since 2020 and most recently served as vice chair, the press release said.

The election came into effect on July 1.

Belton, who has served as a franchise manager and business consultant, said in the release that he looks forward to continuing to serve Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lorain County in his new role.

“I am deeply honored to be elected as the board president of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lorain County,” he said. “My involvement in this organization is rooted in a deep belief in the power of mentorship to change lives.”

“Over the years, I have seen first-hand the incredible impact positive role models can have on young people and how they can help them achieve a better future. As Board Chair, my goal is to expand our reach and ensure more children in our community have access to the support and encouragement they need to succeed.

“Together we can make a lasting difference in the lives of our youth.”

Also elected to the board were Russell Danielson (Avient), vice chair; John Aysh (ShurTape Technologies), treasurer; and Lauren Hickey (Michelman), secretary.

Board members include: Jazmyn Barrow (Ogletree Deakins); Sarah Brosious (Aztek); Luis Carrion (Renner, Otto); Jerome Davis, Ph.D., (Clearview Schools); Susan Elder (Ignite+Propel LLC); Cara Myers (The Sherwin-Williams Co.); Denise Shafer (retired financial advisor); Michael Sherrill (Simplified Facilities); Scott Sommers (ShurTape Technologies); and Julie Toth (McDonald Hopkins LLC).

The mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lorain County is to build and support one-on-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth, the press release said.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lorain County provides local children in need with strong, ongoing, professionally supported and supervised one-on-one care relationships that forever change their lives for the better, the press release said.
