It’s no secret that Diane Keaton loves wine. There’s even a video on YouTube, “Diane Keaton Talks Wine for 10 Minutes,” in which the actress waxes poetic about wine in edited clips from The Ellen DeGeneres Show spanning nearly a decade. So if the Father of the bride When the star teamed up with homeware brand Hudson Grace for a new collection, wine accessories were a must.
“I drink wine on ice… lots of ice,” Keaton tells ELLE DECOR. “We designed glasses that hold, shall we say, a ‘generous’ amount!” Overall, the launch includes not only wine coolers and tumblers, but also a wide range of product categories, from candles and table linens to bedding and throws.
The color palette for the collection was a no-brainer. “We incorporated the black and white colors of Diane’s home throughout the collection,” says brand co-founder Monelle Totah. Of course, the line also needed a little pizzazz, so Totah and Keaton added a splash of bright cherry red – called “Keaton Red,” of course. The stoneware plates and bowls, for example, play with various black and white patterns, from stripes to splatters, and pair beautifully with the scarlet forks and knives.
Besides wine, another product category that was close to Keaton’s heart was pet accessories. The actress has a dog named Reggie, a retriever who she adopted in 2020 and who has since become the star of her Instagram feed. A post from February even shows the actress serenading Reggie with a vibrato-rich rendition of “God Bless America.”
“Reggie is the boss of the house!” says Keaton. “She has beds in every room, so I thought, why not create some in our range that Reggie would like?” There are not only beds, but also bowls, treat containers and even a doorstop – the latter of which bears a striking resemblance to Keaton’s beloved pooch.
That sense of humor runs through the star’s Hudson Grace collection. Cocktail napkins are decorated with Keaton-isms, such as “Let’s just say it wasn’t pretty” and “I’m not a wine connoisseur, but I do like a glass or two in the evening.” Matchboxes and fire buckets are decorated with “FIRE” in large block letters, and “KEATON” wraps around the small wine glasses. That sense of fun was there from the start.
“The whole process was smooth and really easy,” says Totah. “We laugh a lot together.”
