Every diehard college football fan knows Phil Steele. The man whose magazine has been a staple of college football junkies for generations is one of the most respected and admired people in the publishing industry. He is a legend in his sport and in his profession. Fans can’t wait to hear what he has to say about each team. The Phil Steele College Football Preview highlights the returning starters, the unit rankings and the other topics we’re dying to cover over the summer to get us through the final weeks before the arrival of Week 1 in late August and early September. We at Trojans Wire were fortunate and honored to be able to interview Phil Steele about the USC football team ahead of the 2024 season. Our interview appears on The Voice of College Football, where we host a commentary show with Mark Rogers on Mondays and a call-in show with USC fans on Fridays.

USC’s defense was obviously terrible in 2023, but they now have different coaches in 2024. We asked Phil Steele how that affected his assessment of USC’s defense this season.

USC fans are hoping that Phil Steele’s predictions about the Trojans’ defense underestimate the performance of the Men of Troy. However, Steele is optimistic about USC’s offensive line. If Steele’s optimism is backed up by the Trojans’ level of play on the field, USC could be in for a very big, very successful year.
