UNM Art Museum opens fall semester with reception on August 23: UNM Newsroom

As the University of New Mexico Museum of Art prepares to reopen its doors for the new academic year, the campus community is welcomed and invited to reconnect with UNMAM through exhibitions, events and student engagement opportunities.

To mark the start of the Fall 2024 semester, an opening reception hosted in partnership with the College of Fine Arts Dean’s Office will take place on Friday, August 23. From 4-7 p.m., UNMAM will celebrate both new and returning exhibitions with food from Fresko Mediterranean Fusion, a pop-up from Basement Films, and a performance by musician Hedia.

The UNM Art Museum will reopen to regular hours from Tuesday, August 20, through December 7, 2024:

Tuesday – Thursday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Open late for shows at Popejoy Hall

In the Main Gallery and the Van Deren Coke Galleries Review Insight 5.0the final installment in the multi-year exhibition series, is on view. Created and curated by museum staff and partners, the exhibition features new artwork by five contemporary artists affiliated with UNM, as well as an album of 19th-century microscopic nature photographs from the museum’s collection.

Pelton & Jonson: The Transcendent 1930s continues at the Raymond Jonson Gallery. Printing in Action: Lithography and the Modern World will be on view at the Clinton Adams Gallery through October 5. Later in the semester Graphic Art and Revolution: Latin American Political Posters 1968–2000 opens at Clinton Adams Gallery, with further details to follow.
