John Johnson – The Bradenton Times

It is with a heavy heart that I must announce:

John James Johnson, 81 years young, of Holmes Beach, FL, died of natural causes on August 7, 2024. John was born in Berea, KY in 1942 to Ella Mae Terrill and Jake Johnson.

John joined the Army in 1961 and was honorably discharged in 1966. During his time on active duty, he traveled throughout Germany, specializing in truck/tank mechanics and earning proficiency as a sniper (M-14 rifle).

John leaves behind 3 children: John Johnson, Rebecca Raessler and Joanna Daugherty; 4 grandchildren: Heather Johnson, Amber Mellor, Kylie Raessler and Allan Daugherty; 3 great-grandchildren: Kyle Johnson-Parks, Athena Johnson-Kelly, Connor Mellor; brother: Jake

Johnson: along with a family tree that has deep roots and far-reaching cousins, nieces and nephews throughout the Eastern United States

Predeceased were Sue F. Johnson (wife); Frick Johnson (brother); Carolyn Johnson (sister); Patricia Johnson (sister), Edgar Johnson (brother); Charlie Johnson (brother) and Doug Johnson (brother).

John lived his life to the full, raised a family and thrived. John worked hard and partied even harder. It was an honor and a privilege. We miss your presence, we cherish your memory, we love you always and we will never forget you.

No funeral services are planned at this time. The family suggests donations be made in his name to the American Legion (https://www.americanlegion.org) with Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory, 43rd Street West, Bradenton, FL 34209, in charge of arrangements.
