CHARLOTTE, NC, 14 August 2024 /PRNewswire/ — Deriva Energy, a leading operator and developer of renewable energy, announces the appointment of Johannes Clapp as the new Chief Executive Officer with effect from 30 September 2024. Clapp takes over the role following the departure of Chris Fallonwhich served the company until the end of July.
Clapp brings over 30 years of extensive experience in energy, energy transition, and renewable energy project finance and development. Clapp joins Deriva from Scout Clean Energy, a Brookfield portfolio company, where he served as Chief Financial Officer and played a significant role in the development, construction, and operation of the company’s 1 GW of wind, solar, and storage assets, while driving the development of a 17 GW project pipeline. Clapp was instrumental in leading Scout’s growth strategy, building effective teams, driving innovation, and leading transformative initiatives. Clapp also led the sale process that resulted in Scout’s acquisition by Brookfield in late 2022.
In his career, Clapp has also served as Managing Director of the Global Power & Utilities Group at Citigroup, CEO of a developer of distributed energy for commercial and industrial use, and spent ten years as an industry consultant building competitive electricity markets in the U.S., as well as asset valuation and power market analysis. At Deriva Energy, Clapp will leverage his experience to accelerate the transition to clean energy and drive decarbonization of the electricity grid.
