Doechii announces the mixtape “Alligator Bites Never Heal” for her 26th birthday: “Happy Birthday to Me”

Doechii celebrates her 26th birthday on Wednesday (August 14) with a special gift for her fans: a new mixtape titled Alligator bites never heal.

The Florida rapper/singer unveiled the cover art for her new project, which features her sitting in an antique wooden chair while holding an albino alligator on her lap. “Happy birthday to me,” she wrote in her Instagram caption. Alligator bites never heal will be released on August 30th via Top Dawg Entertainment and Capitol Records.

The mixtape comes two years after her last project (and first major label release), You / Your / Black B—h EP with collaborations with Rico Nasty (“Swamp B—hes”), Jst Ray (“B—hes Be”) and TDE labelmate SZA (“Persuasive”). “Persuasive” reached number 33 on Billboard‘s Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart in 2022. Doechii last released a mixtape in 2020 titled Oh, the places you will visit.

For the past month, the Swamp Princess has been releasing “Swamp Sessions” every Friday, where “I set a timer for an hour and write a song. Whatever I get done in an hour gets posted!” she wrote on Instagram in July. “I’m adding a scene to satisfy my creative director cravings, enjoy.” Since then, she’s released five “Swamp Sessions,” titled “BULLFROG,” “CATFISH,” “NISSAN ALTIMA” (featuring guest appearances from her TDE labmates Isaiah Rashad, Ab-Soul, and Jay Rock), “FLORIDA WATA,” and “SUNDAYS BEST,” featuring Fana Hues. She released “NISSAN ALTIMA” as a single earlier this month.
