Unknown story behind Stephen Curry’s “Nuit Nuit” hoodie at the Olympics

Have you ever wondered how Stephen Curry of the US team had his “Nuit Nuit” hoodie immediately on hand after breaking the hearts of the French in the gold medal game at the Paris Olympics last Saturday?

Curry had already pre-ordered the goods before the games.

According to designer Mike Fogg, Curry’s team approached him with the idea for the jersey in June, shortly before the legendary shooter prepared for his first Olympic appearance.

Fogg revealed that a shipment of the hoodie was sent to Curry’s hotel in Paris when the games began, but no one knew if he would wear it. Like with his timely baskets, the Warriors star waited for the right moment.

“Steph chose the perfect moment and made it even more iconic,” Fogg told Cllct. “It really shows how calculated he is. It really felt like a lightning-out-of-a-bottle moment for all of us. As a designer, you always dream of having your work showcased worldwide, but this was on a whole other level. Everything came together perfectly – the game, Steph’s legacy, the cultural significance of Paris and of course his signature ‘goodnight’ moment, or should I say ‘nuit nuit’ moment.”

Indeed, it was fitting for Curry to unveil the hoodie after sinking four three-pointers in the final 2:47 of the game against France and sending the host country to bed with his trademark “goodnight” cheer.

So can fans grab the hoodie to commemorate the moment? Unfortunately, no. According to Fogg, the hoodie was “a personal, individual, creative project” for Steph to wear exclusively at the Paris Games. The designer revealed that he was bombarded with requests from fans to create a replica shirt.

“It was something unique from him, designed for that one special moment,” Fogg said. “We had no idea it would go so viral. I received numerous requests, but I responded that it was a unique creation for the gold medalist himself.”

Of course, it’s only a matter of time before imitations of the hoodie appear everywhere.
