The Making a Difference Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides food assistance to Pierce County residents, has received a $100,000 grant from the Gary and Carol Milgard family.

The grants will go to Eloise’s Cooking Pot Food Bank and its MADF home delivery program. The funds will be used specifically to purchase culturally relevant foods and cover delivery costs, with the goal of helping community members who may be experiencing food insecurity, according to a MADF press release.

According to the press release, the home delivery program currently serves more than 70,000 people and delivers 1.5 million pounds of food per month, serving 2,830 households per week. The nonprofit’s delivery service is aimed at people who are homebound or face other transportation barriers that may hinder access to healthy food, the press release said.

“We are incredibly grateful for this support, which allows us to not only deliver food to those in need, but to do so in a way that honors the cultural heritage of our community members,” said Ahndrea Blue, president and CEO of MADF, in the press release. “This grant will allow us to continue our mission of fighting hunger while respecting the diverse traditions and tastes of those we serve.”
