These Big Lots stores are closing near you

STUART, Florida – At Big Lots in Stuart, the days of deep discounts are numbered.

Carol Johnson is a regular there.

“I got out of my car and saw the signs,” Johnson said. “And I thought, closing? Is that like the store is closed or something?”

In a recent filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Big Lots announced plans to “vigorously target stores that exhibit poor performance.”

“I was really surprised and just thought, ‘Wow, things are going downhill,'” said Big Lots buyer Angela Chapman.

We checked all Big Lots stores in Florida and found that 26 will close, four of them (fat below) is available in our area. In the meantime, 80 stores remain open throughout Florida.

Shoppers looking forward to the big bargains wonder where they will find comparable prices.
“I love Dollar Tree, but it’s getting difficult because they keep raising prices,” said Big Lots customer Mary Pirone.

“They always talk about the economy not being so good, but when you have stores like Big Lots, it helps,” Johnson added. “The prices are better than some others.”

Big Lots closes a a total of 315 branches nationwidebut no word yet on when.

“I think this has a big impact because people are having a hard time today,” Chapman said.

For now, these stores will remain open and offer big discounts before closing their doors for good.
