We are in the middle of it Big Brother Season 26, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen the audience so divided over a houseguest as they were over Angela Murray. Some called for her to be kicked out for her bad behavior alone, others said she was the much-needed breath of fresh air that the modern seasons have been lacking for some time. I was actually a hater at first, but after four weeks… okay, I can say it… I think I’m a fan of Angela now.
I am a spectator who tends to support those who I believe will win. Big Brotheralthough my predictions are often wrong. In this respect, I think Angela has all incorrect Moves of a house guest who wants to win BB. However, she is so fascinating to watch that I don’t care. As a former Angela hater, I encourage others to give her another chance.
Angela’s chaotic first HOH set the tone for the season
Big Brother Season 26 was chaotic and it all started with Angela. Her win as Head of Household in Week 1 was a complete disaster. She ran the house like a paranoid tyrant and effectively destroyed every alliance she had built after her tantrum against Matt Hardeman. By the end of her week, she had ruined her game and it seemed almost inevitable that she would soon be out of the house.
Oddly enough, that didn’t happen. It seems that Angela’s chaos has affected the rest of the houseguests, and that she has managed to survive while other people in power ignore her in favor of eliminating other rivals they consider to be bigger threats. Meanwhile, Angela has managed to assert a veto against herself despite not having particularly close alliances, and became Head of Household in Week 4. Even after a month, chaos still reigns, and that’s largely because she calls the shots.
She is an objectively bad player, but sometimes it works
It is hard to argue that Angela is bad at competitions considering she is on her second HOH, but the Big Brother Houseguest has failed when it counted in other major competitions so far. Luckily, she has allies like Tucker Laruriers to protect her and even get her off the block on occasion.
Unfortunately, Angela’s social game doesn’t make up for her lack of playfulness. She’s overly paranoid, ready to burn all bridges at any moment, and can’t be relied upon when push comes to shove. At the same time, she still finds groups to join, like recently when she joined an alliance after eavesdropping on their conversation while lying on the floor:
I’m sorry but Big Ang is cracked again and I’m absolutely here for it 😠#BB26 pic.twitter.com/FX9j14C8nK13 August 2024
Do you know how long have I waited seeing a houseguest actively sneaking around the house and eavesdropping on conversations? It’s such a wild and risky strategy, but she doesn’t care. Heck, her efforts have earned her an alliance with Tucker, Rubina Bernabe, T’Kor Clottey, and Kimo Apaka! Sure, she’s at the bottom of the food chain, but it looks like she’ll be keeping a target off her back once again in Week 5. Sometimes it pays to be the worst player in the house.
She is emotional and vulnerable, which is not the case with most modern house guests
Big Brother is a show that features houseguests several hours a day for nearly three months. While the CBS reality series used to be famous for the chaos that reigned there, most houseguests now definitely look out for themselves, knowing that their behavior in the house could impact their job, family, and overall reputation in the real world.
Angela is seemingly unafraid to mock, argue, and attack her fellow guests. It’s important to distinguish that she’s not doing this in an overtly offensive way, using racial slurs or anything like that, she’s just being rude and a bit obnoxious. It’s nice to see someone like her back in the game who isn’t trying to shape her gameplay towards a future career as an influencer or something like that.
For these reasons, I have no choice but to respect Angela and admit that she is the kind of player I have been waiting for for a long time. To be clear, I don’t think she has a chance to win Big Brotherbut I don’t think season 26 would be nearly as entertaining without her. Kudos to the casting department for selecting her and bringing her in to keep things exciting for as long as it lasts.
Big Brother airs on CBS Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8:00 p.m. ET and Sundays at 9:00 p.m. ET. Tune in to see what Angela might do next, because we’re guaranteed to see at least a few more episodes of her next week!
