Warriors player Draymond Green shares wild thoughts amid US team’s horror against Serbia

Warriors player Draymond Green shares wild thoughts amid US team’s horror against Serbia

On Thursday, the U.S. beat Serbia 95-91 to advance to the gold medal game against France at the 2024 Paris Olympics. If you only saw the final score, you only heard half the story, as the Americans made a historic comeback after trailing by as many as 17 points for much of the game. Denver Nuggets champion Nikola Jokic got the Serbs going until Warriors sharpshooter Stephen Curry donned his superhero cape and got the win. Still, Curry’s teammate Draymond Green was just as excited as the home crowd.

In an episode of his podcast “The Draymond Green Show,” Dray Baron Davis talked about how he plans to help Team USA catch up.

“My heart was in my throat watching that game,” Green said. “I was about to send Bron and Steph into a group chat and say, ‘Bro, come on, man.’ At halftime, we were down 11 points and I was about to send them a group text.”

“I tweeted like an idiot,” Green added, responding to Davis’ statement that the Olympics felt different than a regular NBA game.

“I was tweeting like crazy,” Green continued. “We couldn’t lose that game because, man, even though I didn’t end up on that Olympic team, I vividly remember winning in 2021 and saying, ‘Yo, the next step is to beat France in France.’ And somehow France beat Germany. I know how. The matchups were good for them.”

After beating Serbia, the US team will make Green’s prediction come true, although they will face an inspired French team with all the momentum in the world. In addition, the promising Victor Wembanyama will be eager to play spoilsport and prove to the world why he should be the next face of world basketball.

Meanwhile, the Warriors are also at a crossroads. After the Sacramento Kings knocked them out of the play-in tournament last season, they lost Klay Thompson to the Dallas Mavericks. They then released Chris Paul, who had signed with the Spurs to mentor Wembanyama. They tried to fill the gaps in their roster by trying to trade Utah Jazz big man Lauri Markkanen, but the Finnish forward decided to sign a contract extension.

After the Warriors failed to sign Markkanen, it looks like their title window is officially closed, but the team should continue to be active on the transfer market to surround Stephen Curry with quality players until the rebuild finally happens.
