Boss Team Games has announced that it is currently working on two new Halloween games.
According to the exclusive report from IGNthe studio, known for Evil Dead: The Gamewill develop both titles based on the legendary 1978 horror film together with the producers of the Halloween film series, Compass International Pictures and Further Front.
Details on one of the games are currently being kept under wraps, but Boss Team Games has confirmed that the other is being built using Unreal Engine 5. It is said to be currently in the “early stages of development” – and will feature contributions from filmmaker and director of the original Halloween, John Carpenter.
Carpenter said in a statement that he was “closely involved in the project.” “As a huge gamer myself, I’m very excited to bring Michael Myers back to life in this game and I hope to scare the crap out of you,” he continued.
According to Boss Team Games, both Halloween games allow players to “relive moments from the film and take on the role of classic characters from one of the most iconic and significant horror films of all time.”
These classic characters are likely to include Halloween’s recurring antagonist, Michael Myers, but it’s currently unclear if the games will also let you play as the iconic Final Girl Laurie Strode, played by Jamie Lee Curtis.
The games may be spin-offs with an original storyline and characters other than Michael, rather than faithful adaptations of the horror films.
Evil Dead: The Game is an asymmetrical multiplayer game with story elements, but Boss Team Games has not confirmed whether its Halloween titles will follow the same format.
