Archbishop John Carroll High School in Radnor announced this month that it has received a $350,000 grant from the Connelly Foundation to establish an on-site wellness center.

The Connelly Wellness Center provides support and resources to students and school families. The goal is to enhance services and supports for members of the school community with mild learning disabilities, academic differences, mental health concerns, and spiritual needs using a comprehensive, team-based approach.

Tom Riley, President of the Connelly Foundation, said, “The Connelly Foundation is pleased to support Archbishop Carroll High School’s efforts to address the holistic needs of students. In the current situation, a focus on wellness is more important than ever, and being a Catholic school today requires having compassion for the diverse needs of students.”

Patricia Scott, president of Archbishop Carroll, said the school is grateful to the foundation “for its generosity and commitment to the well-being of students and families.”

She added: “Experience has shown that students and families struggle with mental health issues, academic inadequacies and their wellbeing. Our goal is to create a physical space in the center of the school, the Connelly Wellness Center, which will provide interventions and support services in a designated area where teachers, counselors, students, families and professionals work together and create a coherent plan for individuals that targets the whole child and all of their needs. This center is about creating a culture of wellness.”

The Connelly Foundation has also pledged to support this initiative with a matching gift from the school of an additional $100,000. This grant represents the largest single gift in the school’s history.

The Connelly Wellness Center is scheduled to open in summer 2025. It will be located on the ground floor of the school.
