Iowa girl receives incredible gift from Jelly Roll and DAX

Iowa girl receives incredible gift from Jelly Roll and DAX

The food smells delicious, the rides are in full swing, the music is blaring, and Iowans are already flocking to one of the best fairs in the country!

According to We Are Iowa, the first Saturday of the state fair broke an attendance record set in 2022. The first Saturday of the fair saw 128,732 people in attendance and 16,001 saw DAX and Jelly Roll perform.

The fair is already in full swing and we’ve heard some really cool stories in the first few days. On opening day of the fair, another record was set! Meet Finnegan, Iowa’s biggest pig. Have you ever seen a 1,400-pound pig? Me neither.

Jelly Roll has been a real hit for the past two years and has become one of the most popular names in music. Not only is he incredibly talented, but how could you forget a name like Jelly Roll? He performed alongside his opening act DAX at the Iowa State Fair on Saturday (August 10) in front of a record crowd. These two gave a young girl from Iowa an incredible gift that she will remember for the rest of her life.

DAX opened the night for Jelly Roll and while on stage he wore a black and gold Caitlin Clark jersey. I guess Iowans better get used to it because DAX is not the first Iowa artist to show up in a Caitlin Clark basketball jersey. Remember when Tim McGraw showed up at Wells Fargo Arena in an Iowa Hawkeye Clark jersey?

These photos were posted on Hawkeye Heaven’s social media pages and one young girl left the show with a pretty amazing gift!

DAX and Jelly Roll ended up giving this jersey away to a little girl who was at the show and sitting in the stands at the State Fair. After both of them signed the jersey, it went to this young lady! I love her fake tattoos because you can see she’s obviously a Jelly Roll fan!

According to comments on the social media post, the family was visibly excited and stayed up until after 2 a.m. to enjoy the moment.

I’ve never gotten anything at a concert or sporting event and I can’t help but be a little jealous! My older brother has gotten foul balls at baseball games, I’ve sat about four seats away from someone who got a Keith Urban guitar at a concert, and I once gave a little kid a t-shirt I caught at a basketball game. That’s pretty much it.

Although I’m a little jealous, I hope she enjoyed the show because I’m sure she’ll never forget how DAX and Jelly Roll gave her that jersey! It will be an Iowa State Fair she’ll remember for the rest of her life. Maybe one day Caitlin Clark will come across the story and autograph it for her to complete the three-pack!

Dive sites in South Dakota, Iowa and Minnesota that are worth a trip

Almost every small town in South Dakota has a pub. This is where the locals go to have a few beers and chat.

Some of these establishments are located in buildings that are almost as old as the city itself. The walls may be freshly painted or the booths may have new vinyl flooring, but the atmosphere is still reminiscent of a good old dive bar.
If you think that a “pub” is all about shady customers, the smell of devil’s lettuce and stale Grain Belt, you are wrong. Not everyone Diving has a bad reputation.

What makes a dive a dive?

A dive bar has character. Neon signs for beer bars and local memorabilia decorate the walls.

You may find a pool table, a dart board, and a few video lottery machines.

The bartender knows the regulars by name and they know what they drink.

In some pubs there is nothing to eat at all except bags of chips and pickled eggs in a jar of brine on the counter.

The dives are nothing special. The walls are lined with 70s-style wooden panels and there are wobbly tables resting on a folded napkin.

And finally, the bathrooms. The bathrooms in the pubs are in a class of their own and could be a theme in their own right.

There are several small pubs in our area with friendly faces, cheap alcohol with a brand and even really Good Food! We use the term “diving” in the most loving sense.

Here are some of the best and why you should go there.
