Meghan Markle has become an obstacle to Prince Harry’s 40th birthday celebrations by refusing to allow him to throw a wild party for his friends living in the UK.
According to a report by Heat Magazine, The Duke of Sussex had hoped to celebrate his milestone birthday with his close friends, but Meghan vetoed the idea.
A source close to the couple revealed that Meghan was concerned about her public image and also mentioned security risks.
“Harry was keen to go to the UK and celebrate with his friends and he would still do it if Meghan would let him, but she is saying absolutely nothing,” the insider said. “For one thing, it’s a bad image for her brand.”
The insider revealed details of Meghan’s fears about his plans, adding: “They’re hoping to hang out with the cream of society, the Hollywood and political elite, so the idea of him drinking booze with his mates in Mykonos or somewhere and acting like an idiot is just the worst idea imaginable.”
Instead, the royal couple, who live in California, will likely celebrate the occasion in a small circle, giving priority to their family obligations over Harry’s desire to relive his party days.
However, the insider noted that Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet’s father “would hate to let his friends in the UK down. He has made big promises to them and he knows they are all looking forward to the big party.”
But he knows that it would be “difficult” to “justify this wild partying behavior at this stage of his life,” because no matter how much he wants to “turn back time,” those days are over.
The insider also shared that Harry is aware of his responsibilities and that although he had fun before his wedding, “he really wasn’t the best version of himself back then.”
