“I have built a relationship of trust”

“I have built a relationship of trust”

Over the past few years, wrestling fans have seen some of the biggest names in the industry end their careers, and 2025 will be no different, as John Cena has confirmed that he will officially retire after a WWE retirement tour. The only problem is that Cena is inevitably a professional wrestler, and if there’s one person you can never fully trust when they say they’re going to retire, it’s a professional wrestler.

However, in a recent interview with ComicBook.com, Cena made it clear that he is serious when he talks about his retirement.

“There’s no check writer with enough money that can change my mind if I quit in December,” Cena said. “I don’t want to continue for selfishness or financial gain. I’ve built a relationship of trust and authenticity with WWE over the years, and that means the people who think I suck and the people who believe in me know that I’m honest with them and I’m trustworthy. I mean what I’m saying: When I’m done in December, I’m done. It’s the last time I’m in a ring.”

For the time after 2025, Cena noted that he would like to make occasional appearances here and there, but as far as appearances go, 2025 will be the end for the leader of the Cenation.

“I will be a member of the WWE family as an ambassador and a grateful one, but you will see me wearing that (his suit), not the wristbands, the jorts, the baseball cap. That will go away in December 2025, and that’s why we’re putting so much meaning and emphasis on this farewell tour.”
