Are you ready to test your basketball shooting skills?
Sign up for the Fall River Hot Shot Challenge on August 23 on the basketball courts at Britland Park, hosted by retired Fall River police officer Mike Pereira.
The Fall River Hot Shot Challenge is modeled after the NBA’s annual 3-point shooting competition and features three mixed age divisions: 10-13, 14-17 and 18+.
Registration is free and opens at 3:00 p.m. The event starts at 4:00 p.m.
Prizes include a $250 Visa gift card for the top two divisions and a $500 Visa gift card for those 18 and older. The three winners will also receive an event jersey.
In addition to the challenge, a free throw contest will be held with the winner receiving Nike Air Jordan Tatum 2 sneakers.
The first 100 participants will receive an event t-shirt, a water bottle and a pair of basketball socks.
There will also be a raffle for 10 pairs of Nike sneakers.
The event is sponsored by several organizations, including the Fall River Police Department, the Massachusetts Coalition for Police, Mayor Paul Coogan, Blue Cross Blue Shield Massachusetts and the Police Athletic League of Fall River.
