Reach acquires songwriting publishing rights for Wyatt Durett

Reach Music Publishing Inc (Reach) has acquired selected publishing shares and songwriting shares from the multi-platinum songwriter Wyatt Durretteannounced today Michael ClosterPresident/Founder and Owner of Reach Music.

This acquisition includes interests in 29 of Durrette’s compositions, and Reach also owns the worldwide administration rights for its share of these acquired rights. The copyrights include Durrette’s shares in songs that he co-wrote with Zac Brownsuch as the breakthrough hit “Fried chicken” (9x RIAA certified platinum) and the singles “Toes” And “Whatever it is” from the Zac Brown Band’s debut album The Foundation.

In addition to Zac Brown, Wyatt also wrote Lukas Combsincluding the single “Beautifully Crazy”, which was certified diamond (10x platinum) by the RIAA. This song is also included in the Reach acquisition.

Wyatt’s longtime publisher, Richard Blackstone of Blackstone Entertainment, will remain Wyatt’s publisher and will jointly manage the select songs that are part of the Reach acquisition with Reach Music.

“It is an exciting moment to have entered into an acquisition agreement with Wyatt Durrette, an award-winning, A-list songwriter,” said Cloister. “Reach Music has been the publishing administrator for Zac Brown for 12 years and we know Wyatt Durrette and his incredible work with the Zac Brown Band, starting with ‘Chicken Fried’, as well as his more recent work with Luke Combs. This is Reach’s largest acquisition in country music and we couldn’t be more excited to have made this deal with Wyatt.”

The agreement between Reach and Wyatt Durrette comes shortly after the company’s other acquisitions of classical catalogs in other genres, including the recent acquisition of the copyrights for Judas Priest and Chuck D from Public Enemy.

Wyatt Durrette was represented in the transaction by Adam Ritholz and John Brill of Ritholz Levy Fields LLP. Reach Music was represented in the transaction by Jeff Sacharow of The Sacharow Firm, PC.
