Last month’s hype San Diego Comic Con has barely let up, but that didn’t stop Disney from bringing a wealth of updates, announcements, and reveals to this weekend’s D23 Expo. In fact, the biennial “Ultimate Disney Fan Event” took place in Anaheim, California, with so much news about upcoming content and experiences – from the best Disney Plus shows and movies to theme parks, cruises, and more – that it might have seemed like your social media feed had been hijacked by Mickey Mouse.
Of course, it was the big event’s highly anticipated Entertainment Showcase that brought smiles to TV streaming fans’ faces. The panel was packed with information on existing projects and brand new productions, and contained enough Star Wars, Marvel and Pixar know-how to justify renewing our Disney Plus subscriptions for years to come.

Star Wars streaming series Strike Back
There was remarkably little series and film news from the galaxy far, far away at the San Diego Comic-Con, but D23 made up for it with enough Star Wars‘ Parts that can rival the size of the Death Star.

First, new details about the next Disney Plus game were announced. star Wars‘ Streaming Adventure, Skeleton Crew. A promising teaser trailer – featuring a force-wielding Jude Law and a group of curious teenagers lost in the galaxy – looks and feels like star Wars crossed with coming-of-age classics from Amblin Entertainment ET And The Goonieswith a little Stranger Things Fans of this nostalgic mood do not have to wait long, because Skeleton Crew neither, as it was announced that the show will launch with a two-episode premiere on December 3, 2024.

This novel take on George Lucas’ iconic sci-fi universe was not the only one to garner much praise at D23, as the highly anticipated 12-part Andor Season 2 has also made it to the stage, along with series star Diego Luna. The actor announced that the second season – which will debut next year at an undisclosed date – will unfold over a period of four years in history, leading up to the events of Villain One. Speaking of lovers Episode IV Prehistory, AndorThe next season will also see the return of Alan Tudyk as fan-favorite, sassy droid K-2S0, as well as Ben Mendelsohn as the evil director Orson Krennic.

Agatha Harkness, Matt Murdock and more from Marvel
Not to be outdone by the epic sci-fi saga, Marvel also hit the stage with all the force of a Hulk smash. While the studio largely reused its cinematic reveals from San Diego Comic-Con, it still had plenty of streaming surprises up its sleeve.

The Disney Plus Deep Dive began with an update on Ironheartthe previously revealed series that tells the story of Black Panther: Wakanda ForeverRiri Williams. The film’s director, Ryan Coogler, shared a clip in which the titular MIT student and brilliant inventor – played by actor Dominique Thorne – tinkers with a superhero suit that puts Iron Man’s armor to shame. The footage also gave a taste of Twisters“Anthony Ramos’ villain Parker Robbins, aka The Hood, who is obviously up to no good when Ironheart appears in the upcoming series sometime next year.

Marvel also enchanted WallVision Fans with a spooky new look at Agatha all the timeThe lengthy trailer offered an entertaining and insightful look at the sequel/spin-off, in which the sorceress played by Kathryn Hahn assembles a coven of witches – including Aubrey Plaza’s warrior witch Rio Vidal – to help her regain her lost powers.
The fan-favorite character’s rivalry with the Scarlet Witch will no doubt add some darkness and terror to the series, but the promising preview also hinted at a playful horror vibe that feels a bit like a cross between Marvel and Hocus PocusWe can’t wait to join Agatha on her journey down the Witches’ Way when the highly anticipated series arrives on Disney Plus with a two-episode premiere on September 18 – just in time for Halloween.

While the Ironheart And Agatha all the time Updates gave Marvel fans a lot to look forward to, it was the deep insight into Daredevils long-awaited streaming return, where they scrambled to renew their Disney Plus subscriptions. With Marvel boss Kevin Feige, er, on stage along with the cast of Daredevil: RebornParticipants received an exclusive insight into the upcoming 12-part series.

Maintaining the gritty, adult vibe of the superhero’s original Netflix series, footage from the upcoming Marvel Phase 5 series shows Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock raising plenty of hell on the more unsavory streets of New York City. In addition to reminding fans of the character’s ability to stack criminals like firewood, the trailer also offered plenty of surprises, most notably the return of Jon Bernthal’s The Punisher.
The presentation, which also included references to Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, Bullseye and White Tiger, also announced that a second season is already in the works. To the great delight of fans, Feige also announced that we won’t have to wait long for the return of “The Devil of Hell’s Kitchen” – Daredevil: Reborn Debut in March 2025.

Given the record-breaking success of Pixar’s Inside Out 2It’s no surprise that Disney used its D23 platform to reveal some details about the franchise’s upcoming spin-off series. Dream productionsthe show will unfold between the events of Everything is upside down and its sequel and, as the title suggests, focus on the emotions that pull the strings behind our dreams. Aside from a vague 2025 release date, few other details have been announced. But since it’s a spin-off of the greatest animated film of all time, our expectations are very high.

Before the fans return Everything is upside down World, Pixar will invite you to cheer on an underdog softball team in Win or lose. As the animation studio’s first-ever original series, whose release was delayed last year, the family-friendly, sports-themed entry is set to feature all of the colorful characters and emotionally charged storytelling we’ve come to expect from its productions. Premiering on December 6, the show will focus on a single character in each episode that’s connected to the larger story arc.

While the Marvel, Star Wars and Pixar announcements took the spotlight at D23, Disney had a little more fairy dust to sprinkle. In an unexpected appearance, the cast of Percy Jackson and the Olympians comes on the scene with big news – the fantasy surprise hit will return with a second season in 2025. Along with a short teaser, the cast and writer Rick Riordan – who also serves as co-creator of the series – revealed that the next season will be based on the second book, Under the spell of the Cyclops, despite the “disappointment” of its creators over unpopular film adaptations.

Finally, Disney used a different kind of magic and called in master illusionist David Blaine to announce its new series to be published by National Geographic. David Blaine: Don’t tryThe show will follow the magician to locations around the world as he performs daredevil stunts and jaw-dropping tricks that will likely leave viewers speechless. The show, which was unveiled in a reveal trailer, will be released in 2025 and will also stream on Disney Plus and Hulu.
