Just Eat and Cardfactory launch partnership for on-demand delivery

Just Eat has entered into a major partnership with cardfactory, enabling on-demand delivery of cards, gifts and party supplies direct to consumers across the UK. This exclusive collaboration, a first for both companies, is currently being trialled in 19 locations including Belfast, Cardiff, Glasgow, Manchester and Wakefield, with plans to roll out the service to a further 21 stores later this year.

Through the Just Eat app, customers will have access to over 200 Cardfactory products, from greeting cards and candles to balloons, gift bags, keyrings, confectionery and stationery. This partnership aims to provide greater convenience for consumers and is in line with the growing trend of fast delivery services becoming an integral part of everyday life.

The partnership follows the results of a study conducted by PA Consulting on behalf of Just Eat Takeaway.com, which found that 75% of those who have ordered food on demand expect it to become a regular part of their lives. The survey, which included 4,000 European customers, highlighted key moments that lead to food and retail orders through the app, including occasions such as gift giving and sending care packages. This new service offering is designed to specifically address these needs.

Amy Heather, Strategic Accounts Director at Just Eat UK, highlighted the importance of fast delivery in meeting customer expectations. She explained: “Fast delivery is increasingly seen not as a luxury but as an expectation by busy consumers. This is demonstrated by the fact that 1 million UK customers now regularly order food from Just Eat. As we continue to expand into retail, this exclusive partnership with Cardfactory demonstrates our commitment to serving our customers whenever and wherever they need us. Through our extensive delivery network, we are working to make gifting and celebrating as convenient for consumers as ordering takeaway.”

The initiative is in line with Just Eat’s wider strategy to expand into retail. The platform, which now reaches 97 percent of all UK postcodes, has significantly expanded its food and retail offering over the past year, with the number of retail locations listed on the app quadrupling. Partnerships such as the one with Cardfactory are central to Just Eat’s mission to provide everyday conveniences and meet a variety of consumer needs, from last-minute gift purchases to everyday essentials shopping.

Sam Davies, Executive Digital Director at cardfactory plc, was excited about the partnership and said: “Celebrating life’s moments is an important part of our way of life, so we want our customers to be able to interact with us in any way they choose, whether in-store, online or through one of our partners. Value for money, choice and convenience are key to Cardfactory’s growth strategy and through our partnership with Just Eat, we look forward to making our unique offering available to more customers in more places.”

Cardfactory, which operates over 1,000 stores across the UK and Ireland, is focused on expanding its digital reach and enhancing its multi-channel offering as part of its growth strategy. The partnership with Just Eat is a step towards achieving this goal and will enable the retailer to reach a wider audience and meet the growing demand for convenient shopping solutions.

The initial list of participating Cardfactory stores includes locations such as Beckton Retail Park, Birmingham Fort, Leeds Crown Point Retail Park, Liverpool ONE and Norwich Riverside Retail Park, among others. The trial will be expanded to more stores later this year to make Cardfactory’s products available to a wider customer base.
