Martin Odegaard reveals his reaction in Arsenal’s dressing room as title hopes ended

Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard has revealed the dressing room reaction to Sunday’s defeat to Brighton which left their Premier League title dreams in tatters.

The Gunners were the second best team for much of the game and had to struggle to a clear 3-0 home defeat against a Seagulls team brimming with confidence.

Second-half goals from Julio Enciso, Deniz Undav and Pervis Estupinan gave Brighton a third consecutive win at the Emirates Stadium and mean they will win the title next season if they beat Chelsea.

“Yes, it feels like the title is over,” Odegaard told Sky Sports. “It’s going to be very difficult now, we have to be honest. It’s hard to take.”

“It’s not a good feeling right now. Honestly, I don’t know what happened with the way we played, especially in the second half. It feels like there’s no hope now.”

“We did a lot of good things in the first half and had moments where we created big chances, but in the second half we gave them more and more momentum.

“We wanted to come here and continue like we did in the last two games, get a good result and keep pushing. It’s a big disappointment (in the dressing room).

“I don’t think the mentality was a problem. We were good in the game, but things were different in the game and we have to accept that and learn from it.”
