The upcoming remaster of Dead Rising will no longer have the “Erotica” photo feature.
In the original game Dead Rising, the player can use a camera to take photos of the events in front of him.
By photographing certain interesting objects, the player receives PP (prestige points), which he can use to increase the level of the protagonist Frank.
The game would rate players’ photos in certain categories, including “Horror” (for photos of zombies or graphic violence), “Brutality” (for violent photos), and “Outtake” (for photos of funny scenes or zombies with objects on their heads).
One of these categories was “Erotic,” where players were given PP for taking photos of female cleavage, underwear, or other provocative clothing.
However, according to a new feature summary from Famitsu, the upcoming Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster will no longer include the Erotica category.
Considering that the original game came out 18 years ago, the conclusion is clear that what was acceptable in 2006 is no longer the case in 2024.
Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster will be released on September 19th. The remaster uses the RE Engine and includes quality of life improvements such as auto-saving, reworked controls, and an improved user interface.
Another element from the original game that is missing is Frank’s original voice, which is provided by voice actor Terence J Rotolo.
Rotolo confirmed last month that he was not asked to reprise the role of Frank for the reboot, saying: “An actor’s job is to show up prepared, do your best and then move on to the next mission. I just wasn’t called for that mission. The reasons for that are up to the producers.”
