Reuben Awards After-Party (Rescheduled) – The Daily Cartoonist

Michael de Adder won the Divisional Reuben for editorial cartooning:

Thank you, National Cartoonist Society.

First of all, I would like to apologize for not being there in person to receive this famous award. Last-minute personal problems made it impossible for me to attend. I almost had the ticket in my hand before fate snatched it from me.

Second, I would like to thank you for naming me Cartoonist of the Year for my work at The Washington Post.

Michael talks about the award and presents his winning portfolio of eight Washington Post cartoons.

Andrews McMeel and GoComics honored the nominees and winners from their team of cartoonists:

GoComics was well represented at this year’s awards ceremony – 13 of our talented creators were finalists. Four of these creators were even nominated for the Outstanding Cartoonist of the Year award: Will Henry (“Wallace the Brave”), Dana Simpson (“Phoebe and Her Unicorn”), Mark Tatulli (“Lio”) and Darrin Bell (“Rudy Park”).

Bill Hinds of Tank McNamara was honored with the Gold T-Square Award for his 50 years as a professional cartoonist. Tauhid Bondia took home the award for Best Newspaper Comic for Crabgrass, while Sarah Anderson won the award for Best Short Form Online Comic for Sarah’s Scribbles. Wayno of Waynovision won the award for Best Newspaper Comic.

On X/Twitter Andrew McMeel And GoComics posted pictures of Sarah and Tauhid accepting their awards.

And although we mentioned that it Lynn Johnston announcement Hilary B. Price As Cartoonist of the Year, we should have noted that it was the first female winner of THE Reuben award who presented it to the sixth and last woman to ever win it.

The National Cartoonists Society has scheduled next year’s Reuben Awards and conference as far away as possible from this year’s venue in San Diego, while still keeping them in the contiguous United States.
