Deadpool and Wolverine concept art reveals unused versions of the Marvel Comics Universe

New concept art has been revealed for Deadpool and Wolverinewhich highlights another cameo idea that did not make it into the selection. In this one, there would have been variants of The Avengers Characters in the MCU, but in outfits honoring various comic book legends.




On Instagram, artist Andy Park shared a look at his concept art for the cameo ahead of its release in the upcoming book The Art of Deadpool & Wolverine. The picture shows Deadpool joining the characters of The Avengers as seen in the 2012 film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but their outfits have been replaced to look more like the classic versions of the superheroes seen in comic book stories from years past. They include retro versions of Thor, Captain America, Black widow, Hawkeye, HulkAnd Iron-Man.

The caption of the Instagram post shared by Park reads, in part: “In this post, I’ll show you how I honored MANY comic legends during pre-production while working on the DEADPOOL AND WOLVERINE movie before there was even a script. I suggested a fun idea where Deadpool jumps through multiverses and gets to the MCU, Marvel COMICS Universe! And each character would exist in the art style of a legendary comic artist. Each of them has inspired me greatly!”


Not every idea made it into the final version of Deadpool & Wolverine

The characters of the Marvel Comics universe did not appear in Deadpool and Wolverinepartly because there was only room for so many cameos. Other variants that weren’t used were also revealed in concept art, including another that honors Deadpool’s creator Rob Liefeld with an outfit he would like. Another idea would have seen a variant of Deadpool and Wolverine that blended the two characters together, combining traits from both.

Characters from Marvel-inspired films were also considered. Ryan Reynolds confirmed that there were preliminary plans for Nicolas Cage to appear as Ghost Rider, although it remains unclear whether the actor turned down the offer or if the film was written off beforehand. There were also ideas to possibly hire Ben Affleck for his version of Daredevil, but that concept did not get far enough to make the film a reality. Justice League Star to be reached.


As for the actors appearing in the film, Hugh Jackman is one of the two main actors alongside Reynolds. Actors making special appearances include Channing Tatum as Gambit, Jennifer Garner as Elektra, Wesley Snipes as Blade, and Chris Evans as the Human Torch.

Deadpool and Wolverine is in cinemas.
