Chris Martin covers Taylor Swift’s “Love Story” in Vienna after foiled terrorist attack

Chris Martin gave a special performance in Vienna after Taylor Swift fans were unable to attend her Austrian shows due to a last-minute cancellation.

The Coldplay frontman performed a cover of “Love Story” for the crowd at Austria’s Ernst Happel Stadium during the band’s Wednesday show – two weeks after the pop star was forced to cancel her Eras Tour performances due to a threat of violence.

“If this isn’t good, please, please don’t put it on YouTube because I don’t want to get in trouble with Taylor,” Martin told the audience, according to a clip posted on X.

For this rousing performance, Martin was accompanied on stage by Maggie Rogers.

Swift was originally scheduled to perform three evenings in Vienna starting on August 8.

A day earlier, Barracuda Music had announced that all three shows would be cancelled following the arrest of several people with links to ISIS.

“After receiving confirmation from government officials of a planned terrorist attack, we have no choice but to cancel the three scheduled shows for everyone’s safety,” said a statement shared on Instagram.

The suspects arrested by authorities had reportedly planned to drive a car filled with bombs into the crowd.

On Wednesday, the 34-year-old “Bad Blood” singer broke her silence on the cancellation and the terror plot and defended her decision to remain silent about the horrific incident because she cares about the safety of her fans.

“The cancellation of our shows in Vienna was devastating. The reason for the cancellation filled me with a new sense of fear and enormous guilt because so many people had planned to come to these shows,” she posted on Instagram.

“But I was also so grateful to the authorities because thanks to them we mourned concerts and not live performances.”

Swift also stated that she would not “speak publicly about something” if “it might provoke someone” who would want to harm fans who attend her shows.

“In cases like this, ‘silence’ actually shows restraint and you wait to express yourself when it is the right time. My priority was to finish our European tour safely and I am very relieved to say that we have achieved that,” she added.

Swift recently wrapped up the European leg of her Eras Tour at Wembley Stadium in London. She will next perform in Miami from October 18-20 before flying on to New Orleans and Indianapolis.
