How to honor first responders in Casper

How to honor first responders in Casper

It has been nearly 23 years since the attack on America on September 11, 2001. I will never forget where I was, what I did, and the emotions I felt that day. Natrona County Emergency Services will help Casper keep the memory alive with the second annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb.

The climb will take place on Sunday, September 8, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Ford Wyoming Center. It will begin with the Casper Fire-EMS Department bell ringing ceremony, a moment of silence and the national anthem, followed by the ascent of the 110 floors or 2,200 steps of the World Trade Center.

Dane Anderson of the Casper Fire-EMS Department said they would join other Natrona County First Aiders agencies to remember this day.

In the 23 years since September 11, 2001, an entire generation of first responders has begun and ended their careers. As the years pass since that infamous day, we continue to teach and instill the fundamental changes in our profession that were paid for with the lives of those heroes, forever immortalized on this hallowed ground. We remember the people – the first responders, the innocents killed, and all those who have sacrificed since then, as we rise above.

Registration is now open online NOWThis event is free to the public and participants ages 12 and older.

Donations will be accepted the day of the event and proceeds will go to the Wyoming Heroes Fund. The Wyoming Heroes Fund provides money and support to the families of firefighters, EMTs and law enforcement officers in times of need following a serious injury or death of a first responder.
