CM Punk says the ‘cancer’ label in the locker room is the biggest misconception about him

CM Punk says the ‘cancer’ label in the locker room is the biggest misconception about him

CM Punk says he is completely misunderstood.

During this weekend’s Fanatics Fest, Punk appeared on a live episode of Busted Open Radio, where he was asked about his relationship with his fanbase.

“I think I’m completely misunderstood. I always love the fans, but I’m also very open about the bad ones, so I think those are the stories that people like to pick up,” Punk replied. “I don’t know how much money I spent buying 20,000 ice cream bars for the fans in Chicago, so…”

Host Dave LeGreca then asked Punk what he thought was the biggest misconception people had about him.

“That I’m a cancer or whatever certain people in your industry have tried to say about me,” Punk replied. “I just think that’s stupid.”

Punk also revealed some possible surprises for fans at upcoming WWE shows in Chicago, similar to the ice cream bars handed out at AEW The First Dance in 2021.

“There are more surprises waiting for you if you plan to attend a show in Chicago in the near future, wink, wink, nudge, nudge,” he said.

On October 1, WWE returns to Chicago’s Allstate Arena for a live episode of NXT. Punk is announced for the show.

Punk made similar comments about his reputation behind the scenes during a live interview with The Masked Man Show over the weekend, also during Fanatics Fest. He said:

“Listen, not everyone is nice to me, but I’ll treat you accordingly. If you’re a piece of shit and you act like one towards me, I’ll treat you like one too. If you’re nice, smile, want to have fun, let’s have fun, then I’ll hug you.”
