John Legend loved being Chrissy Teigen’s “stage husband” for the Sports Illustrated shoot

John Legend was Chrissy Teigen’s “stage husband” for her new Sports Illustrated swimsuit cover.

The 38-year-old model, who made her professional modeling debut in Sports Illustrated’s 2010 swimsuit issue, now graces the cult publication’s 60th anniversary issue. The shoot took place at the couple’s home.

John told “Extra”: “Oh, I was there. I was cheering for them. I was going ‘ooh’ and ‘aah.'”

“And then Yu Tsai asked me which (photos) were my favorites and I showed him which were my favorites.

“Well, you know, I worked there as a stagehand.”

The 45-year-old singer described the Sports Illustrated team as “like family” to him and his wife – who together have children Luna, 8, Miles, 5, Esti, 16 months, and 10-month-old Wren – and said the whole experience was “so enjoyable.”

He added: “I was so proud. I was there at the photo shoot… I know the photographer, Yu Tsai, very well and the whole SI team has been there for a long time…

“The whole team is like family to us and so it was such a warm, almost familial experience to be part of the shoot and to do it at our home.

“Chrissy just felt so comfortable, we all felt so comfortable and the photos turned out so beautiful.”

His wife appeared in the new issue alongside the likes of Kate Upton, Christie Brinkley, Martha Stewart and Tyra Banks and she enjoyed the photo shoot for the latest issue.

She recently told “Extra”: “It was honestly so comfortable and cool… It’s growth and it felt good.”

And Chrissy believes her appearance in the 2010 issue was a life-changing moment.

She said: “They were the first people who really believed in me… It was the first time I got to speak and stand in front of people and they were OK with it, and I got to represent a brand that I was really proud to represent.”
