Owlcat Games opens a third-party label specializing in narrative games

Another Publishing label from an indie developer has entered the fray, this time from Owlcat Games. The Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Traders The studio founded a label focusing on narrative titles.

These games don’t have to be role-playing games, but still need to “emphasize strong storytelling, rich characters, and immersive worldbuilding.” For more gameplay-first titles with a multiplayer focus, see Owlcat stated that these would fall under the separate publishing label META.

After self-publication Dealer And Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, The studio wanted to help teams in similar situations. Its ultimate goal is to “deliver new, exciting experiences similar to what we as a studio strive to create ourselves.”

As with other indie LabelsOwlcat will provide comprehensive help with development, marketing, community management and testing. Porting services will also help studios “extend their reach across multiple platforms.”

Owlcat already has two clients in its pocket: the Serbian studio Emotion Spark and the Polish team Another Angle. The former is working on the narrative RPG Rue Valley about a man in a time loop, during which Shadow of the road is an isometric role-playing game set in feudal Japan.

Both projects are reportedly still in the “early stages of development,” but will undergo a major reveal sometime in August.
