Stephen Curry was the hero of the United States’ 98-87 victory over France in the gold medal game on Saturday, hitting eight three-pointers in total and four in an incredible fourth-quarter stretch that helped the Americans seal the win.

Curry also had fun with some of his teammates after the game:

Without Curry, who also scored 36 points and sank nine three-pointers in the comeback win in the semifinals against Serbia, the men might not have won the gold medal.

“Before every shot, you think it’s going to go in,” he told reporters on Saturday. “I just saw the basket. I didn’t see who was in front of me. I knew it was a situation where the clock was a little late, but that impressed me.”

“I’ve seen that a few times with Steph, but it never gets old,” added Steve Kerr, head coach of the U.S. team. “It’s a global game with a lot of great players, but we still believe we have the best players.”

For Curry, who was competing in his first and likely last Olympic Games, it was an experience he will not soon forget.

“It’s everything I imagined it would be and more,” he told reporters of his first Olympic experience. “We all joined in on this mission to continue USA Basketball’s dominance. Of course, I knew it was going to be a really tough task because we were going to be competing against some great teams. At the end of the day, it’s a feeling of relief, but it’s more of a feeling of accomplishment, of course, knowing what we accomplished.”
