Arshad Nadeem gets a ‘buffalo’ as a gift from his father-in-law in Pakistan: Here’s why

Arshad Nadeem is said to receive a “buffalo” as a gift from his father-in-law in Pakistan.

Arshad NadeemPakistan’s Olympic champion has been the darling of the nation since his triumphant javelin throw. The country erupts in jubilation and showers the athlete with cash prizes and other valuable gifts. But one gift stands out from the crowd: a buffalo from his father-in-law.

While most people would reward a champion with luxury cars or extravagant vacations, Nadeem’s father-in-law takes a more traditional approach.

The gift comes at a time when Nadeem is being showered with praise and recognition from various quarters, including the government and sports organizations, recognizing his outstanding performance on the international stage. His remarkable achievement has not only made Pakistan proud but has also inspired countless young sportspeople across the country.

The decision to give a buffalo as a gift may seem unusual to some, but in many rural communities in Pakistan, livestock is highly valued. Buffalo are considered a symbol of wealth and strength and can also provide an additional source of income through milk and other products.

Nadeem’s father-in-law, Muhammad Nawaz, told local media in Nadeem’s village on Sunday that giving a buffalo as a gift is considered “very valuable” and “honorable” in their village and fits well with rural upbringing and tradition.

“Nadeem is also very proud of his roots and despite the success, his village is still his home and he still lives with his parents and brothers,” Nawaz was quoted as saying by PTI.

“When we decided to marry our daughter to Nadeem six years ago, he was doing small jobs and running errands but was extremely passionate about his sport and was constantly practicing javelin throwing at home and in the field,” Nawaz said.

“When he comes to us, he never complains about anything and eats whatever we have at home,” he said.

“Two of his children now attend the local primary school in the village, while one son is still very young.”

The father-in-law added that he has four sons and three daughters and that his youngest daughter Ayesha is married to Nadeem.
