Investigation underway into man’s death in Nashville shooting

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – One person is dead following a shooting in Nashville, according to officials with the Metro Nashville Police Department.

On Saturday evening, MNPD officers were called to 3720 Brickmont Drive around 9:17 p.m. after a shooting was reported.

Police found 23-year-old Brandon Calloway in his home with a gunshot wound to the chest. His girlfriend was performing CPR on him. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Calloway’s girlfriend reported that she came home and did not have a key. She told police that she had recently lost it. While she was waiting for Calloway to let her in, a person appeared and fired a shot through the back door.

The suspect ran away and the girlfriend returned fire with her weapon as he fled toward the edge of the forest, she told investigators.

Police searched Calloway’s home and backyard, as well as surrounding gardens, for evidence. Little is known about the suspects, but police believe they have left the neighborhood.

“Anyone with information regarding Calloway’s murder is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463,” police said.

This is a developing story. Check back later for updates.
