It should come as no surprise that Clearwater Beach, Florida, feels like a vacation destination straight out of a movie. After all, the charming, laid-back town, located on the Gulf of Mexico just a short drive from Tampa, has played that exact role in films including Ocean’s Eleven – The wonderful world of the ocean. Given Clearwater’s long sandy beaches, unparalleled views and vibrant pier culture (come at sunset for locally made crafts, live music and great people watching), it makes sense—but it’s not just Hollywood that comes here. The island has become a popular destination for multigenerational family vacations and getaways with friends, and with the opening of the JW Marriott Clearwater Best Resort & Spa in May 2023, it finally has a home for luxury travelers, too.
The airy, modern property puts visitors in a pleasant mood as soon as they arrive. The lobby has large windows overlooking a private beach—one of the few non-public stretches in the area—and nearly everywhere you look, you’re reminded that you’re here to relax. The ground-floor restaurant, Latitude 28, and the neighboring bar both overlook the water, and up by the rooftop pool, guests can reserve cabanas or head to the Deep End for cocktails, inventive snacks, and Gulf views. (The only place I don’t remember being on the beach was the spa, which was relaxing enough that that was totally fine.)

Here, Jennifer Sacks, the property’s sales and marketing director, shares details on her favorite room and tips on how to best enjoy what Clearwater Beach has to offer.
In your opinion, which is the best room in the property and why?
We have many good rooms here, but I would say the best is our three-bedroom residence. It’s not necessarily just a room, it’s a destination. It has three bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, a beautifully appointed living room, dining room, kitchen with top-of-the-line appliances; all the amenities of home in a complete resort experience. Plus, you get stunning views from the balcony that runs the length of the suite.
How much is it per night?
The price varies depending on the season, but is around $1,500 per night – and that includes some discounts at the spa, pool and kids’ club.

How would you describe the guests and the atmosphere in the hotel?
We have something for everyone, which is great because our guests are dynamic and unique, and they come to a JW Marriott because they want a luxury hotel that is also unique. We welcome families, girls’ getaways, couples on honeymoons or celebrating 50th birthdays.th Wedding anniversary… Everyone here seems to be celebrating some sort of milestone, and we’re happy for them to do so with us. We try to delight our guests while they’re here and help them create memories. We’re also a popular destination for Clearwater Beach locals; everyone wants to try out the new hotel, so we welcome many of our neighbors as well as guests who have traveled to be with us.
As you enter the lobby, slump your shoulders and think: ah, I’m on vacationWhether you are looking out over the water, enjoying one of the restaurants or visiting the lobby bar in the evening, the property provides the perfect stage for your relaxation.
Waterfront fire pits are a perfect way to end the day—unless you follow a local’s advice and take a sunset boat cruise.
What feeling of Clearwater Beach do you want to convey to your guests?
When you walk out our door onto the beach or look out your guest room window at the palm trees, we may be in Clearwater Beach, but you could have been transported to any island. But you don’t need to bring your passport – you’ve landed right in Clearwater Beach, allowing you a little travel without leaving the country. We offer the same effect as an international trip; it’s a vacation in paradise.
What local attraction do you always recommend?
I recommend a sunset cruise! There is a schooner that can take almost any group size out on the water, and as soon as you leave the marina, the temperature changes – the breeze comes – and you see dolphins swimming alongside the boat as the sun goes down. If I could go out every night on one of these cruises, I would! Now if someone asks me where we should go, on landI would recommend the Bait House which serves fresh fish while sitting right by the water. It’s really unique, typically local and you might not find it if no one points it out to you.
