“It’s like a big old scrapbook.”

This article contains important character or plot details.

If you just watched the latest episode of The Umbrella Academythen we know how you feel. (If you haven’t seen it yet, stop reading immediately. This is not the timeline you want to find yourself in.)

While goodbyes are never easy, the Hargreeves’ antics will live in our hearts forever. Since you’re a superfan, we know you devoured the behind-the-scenes cast and crew photos that accompanied the very last credits of the Steve Blackman series. “Everyone contributed them,” Robert Sheehan, who plays the psychedelic Klaus, tells Tudum. “I’ll be honest, maybe this makes me an egomaniac, but when the photos I contributed to the last little montage come up, I think, ‘Uh!’ It’s nice to see them all. In the end, it’s like a big old scrapbook.”

But the fun doesn’t end there – and luckily, so do the photos. To celebrate our favorite siblings, we have a special treat for all the Brellies out there. We even have more never-before-seen images to help ease the anxiety surrounding the series ending. (And there’s a lot of it!) Consider this a gift to you, the most devoted Brellie of all timelines.

Keep the energy going for your big scrapbook by browsing through the briefcase full of behind-the-scenes photos below.

A really nice ending

“I couldn’t have thought of a better way to stick the landing,” Aidan Gallagher, who plays the time-hopping Five, tells Tudum of the final montage. “When I first saw it, I was just overwhelmed with emotion, sitting at home and thinking about all the years we’ve been doing the show. You get this kind of euphoric feeling of gratitude for everything. It’s a really beautiful ending.”

Antics on set

The Brellies constantly played pranks on each other throughout the series, but behind the scenes, the cast also kept the spirit of sibling rivalry alive. “What you see on screen is amplified by our presence off screen,” says Gallagher. “The taunts we get from each other and that loving knowledge of everything we’ve been through as cast members definitely helps bring the characters to life.”

Scene stealers

“I’m going to miss the cast and everyone involved,” says Ritu Arya, who plays Lila Pitts, Diego’s crazy wife who has the ability to mimic other people’s powers. “It was just such a wonderful group of people. Not just the cast, but the whole crew, all the creators, all the fans. That’s what made this experience incredible.” She adds that she was “an absolute wreck” when she saw the credits roll. “It was like a faucet had fallen out of my eyes.”

Fun for the whole family

Between takes, the actors often struggled to keep a straight face. “The cast, our crew, they really are a family,” says Justin H. Min, who plays the anxious Ben with the tentacles. “I’m going to miss being on set with them and all the times we laugh with them. It’s like I grew up with the show, and it’s really heartbreaking to say goodbye to it, but I’m also grateful that we got to have this experience.”

Hidden Camera

In their free time, the cast snapped moments for their social events. For David Castañeda, who plays the knife-throwing Diego, seeing past photos from the set brought out a lot of emotions. “I wanted to start crying,” he says. “It was like going back in time. We were so young. The evolution between (then) and now is emotional. I learned so much from the people around me, the crew, the cast, the directors, the writers (and) the showrunner Steve. It was like going to school every day.”

Facetime

Transforming the cast into superheroes, aliens and villains was the job of the hard-working crew, from the hair and makeup department to VFX and beyond. “It’s not just the faces you see on camera,” says Emmy Raver-Lampman, who plays the rumor-whispering Allison. “There are thousands of people in Toronto, in Los Angeles, all over the world who make this show possible for people to enjoy on Netflix. Without all of those people who helped us make this show, we wouldn’t have the fans that we have. It’s incredible.”

That’s it.

The Brellies traveled through time and space, from the Hargreeves and Dallas mansion in 1963 to the Hotel Oblivion and beyond. While the journey through that timeline may be over for the cast and crew, their memories will live on. “Yeah, I really feel so lucky and grateful that we got to have four seasons,” says Elliot Page, who plays Viktor, possibly the most powerful of the siblings. “I’ve had the privilege of playing this incredible role and connecting with the fans, and it’s really beautiful.”

For Tom Hopper, who plays Luther, the half-gorilla astronaut, the cast has truly “become a group of siblings” over the past seven years and four seasons. “What touched me most – more than watching the show – was the journey we took behind the screen (in these photos),” he says.
