Well, you wouldn’t have expected someone to smile in a photo of Yellowstonenow, could you? Before the Paramount Network hit returns on Sunday, November 10, with the long-awaited second half of Season 5 — which may serve as the series’ farewell — five first look images were released Thursday. And just from a quick glance, you can tell the tension is so thick you could cut it with a knife.
Yellowstone Season 5B: Everything we know so far
Show list
This is understandable, considering the events of the Season 5 finale (summarized here). You’ll recall that Kelly Reilly’s Beth Dutton was conspiring with her father John (the now-missing Kevin Costner) to bring black sheep Jamie (Wes Bentley) to the train station, and at the same time, Jamie was plotting with his girlfriend Sarah (Dawn Olivieri) to cause a fatal accident for the relatives who want to cut his branch off the family tree.

Given the news earlier this week that Reilly and Cole Hauser, who plays rough husband Rip Wheeler, are in talks to Yellowstone Going into Season 6, it’s safe to assume that Jamie’s plan will be foiled, at least as far as Beth is concerned. Bentley may have inadvertently predicted a grim fate for his own character when he spoke to TVLine in February 2023. “It’s a bit like the George (RR) Martin quote about game of Thrones,” he said. “If you think this has a happy ending, you haven’t been paying attention.”
Write in the comments your best guess about who will not survive Yellowstone Season 5B after checking out the new images below.
The bride and groom
What do Rip and Beth see when they look into the distance? If the past is any indicator of the future, it’s a life of conflict and strife.
Political animal
Growing up in Yellowstone National Park, Jamie knows what happens when you mess with a bull, but he still tries to remove his vengeful father from the governor’s office.
Blueprint for success?
Rainwater (Gil Birmingham) and Mo (Mo Brings Plenty) have lots of plans. The question is, will the treacherous Angela allow them to put these plans into action?
Family matters
Considering what they’ve already been through, we can’t blame Monica (Kelsey Asbille), Tate (Brecken Merrill), and Kayce (Luke Grimes) for having a look on their faces that asks, “What new hell is this?”
Wake-up call
If we had to guess – and we have to – we would bet that it is young Carter, whom Rip awakens with an unusual gentleness.
